Ingellen IN-103S (IN-102S), the IEEE802.3ah OAM (Ethernet Operations, Administration, and Maintenance) compliant copper to fiber Gigabit Ethernet solution, is a new generation of Ingellen's media converter. In the past, carriers and service providers have been suffering from the inconvenience and complexity, because they had to use various types of NMS media converters produced by various vendors. However, with the growth of Ethernet access and the deployment of Metro Ethernet and Nation-wide Ethernet as transportation network, the demands of managing Ethernet network elements become emergent.
Ingellen IN-103S series, 802.3ah OAM and SNMP both compliant media converter, have maximum interoperability. The IEEE802.3ah makes media converters "visible" for network managers, which means 10/100/1000M Module has its own IP/Mac address and network managers can set their IP address. Therefore it will make carriers and service providers to manage their network conveniently. By offering 802.3ah OAM Compliant in-band management, this converter can be completely controlled and monitored from a centrally located managed rack controlling all converter settings including band-width control, duplex, and speed configuration.
